How to write stronger job bullet points

How to write stronger job bullet points

The best resume bullets make it easy for a hiring manager to see what you did, how you did it, and why it mattered.

Use a simple structure

Start with an action, add the work you owned, and end with the result. A useful draft formula is: action + scope + impact.

Example

  • Improved onboarding completion by rewriting setup emails and simplifying account handoff steps

Make the outcome clear

Numbers help, but they are not required. If you do not have a metric, describe the business result, customer result, team result, or operational improvement.

Avoid task-only bullets

A task-only bullet says what you were assigned. A stronger bullet shows judgment, ownership, or improvement. That difference is what helps your resume feel credible instead of generic.
